Jeannette and Dorothy Winter Fund Sponsores a New Math Contest Preparation Program for our Youngest Students
In 2011-12 school year, the Jeannette and Dorothy Winter Fund is sponsoring a new math contest preparation program at MWSM for our youngest students in grade 1-3. The program is free of charge to MWSM students.
The Fund, dedicated to the advancement and promotion of academic successat the MetroWest School of Mathematics, was established in 2009, and has rewarded MWSM students for achieving high distinction in national competitions. See the list of the Winter Fund beneficiaries from the 2009-2010 school year.
Jeannette and Dorothy Winter have generously supported many distinguished educational organizations, both local and worldwide. Among them are the Weizmann Institute of Science and the Advanced Math and Science Academy (AMSA) Charter School in Marlborough, MA.
Dorothy Winter formerly practiced law and Jeannette worked as a biochemist. Currently, in addition to fulfilling their role as benefactresses, the Winter sisters enjoy music, theater, and the culinary attractions of Manhattan.

MWSM 2010 Awards Ceremony
The MWSM Annual Awards Ceremony took place on June 26, 2010, with over 75 awards in many categories. We recognized winners in the AMC and MOEMS competitions, Math Kangaroo, and MWSM puzzle contests; participants in the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth; and many other achievers. Rupayan Neogy, a winner in AMC-8, MOEMS and Math Kangaroo, entertained the assembly with a skillful magic show. It is a great pleasure to see the number of MWSM students participating in various math competitions locally and nationally—and so many winning at the national level. Congratulations to all—and wishing all another year of fun, learning, success, and achievement!

MWSM Hiking Club
Our second annual MWSM 2011 Memorial Day hike was a success. We hiked Nickerson Park on the first day (and got somewhat lost), spent a night at a camp and moved on to hike the beautiful Great Island.
