2009-2010 MOEMS Winners
A note from Dr.Charny, MWSM Director
and the Team Coach:
Dear all,
I would like to share our final MOEMS results for the 2009-10 academic year. Let us start with our youngest. In our E-team, from the total of 33 students who participated in at least one contest, more than half - 18 students qualified for the national (and international) Gold (top 2%) or Silver (top 10%) status. The team got the total of 211 points (the top 10 scores), which puts us in the top 10% of all national Division E teams by a wide margin. The top 10% is the highest team category announced by MOEMS, and the qualifying team score for Division E this year was 168 pts.
Here are the individual results for the E-Team Gold, Silver and Bronze status. Congratulations to the kids and the team coaches Anna Makovoz and Alexander Sukher!

About MOEMS
MOEMS (Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools)
is a national contest that has been in existence since 1977.
Its goals, as stated on www.moems.org website are: (1) to stimulate enthusiasm and a love for Mathematics; (2) to introduce important Mathematical concepts (3) to teach major strategies for problem solving; (4) to develop Mathematical flexibility in solving problems; (5) to strengthen Mathematical intuition; to foster Mathematical creativity and ingenuity; (6) to provide for the satisfaction, joy, and thrill of meeting
challenges.
The contests are administered 5 times a year in the November – March
timeframe at participating schools all over the country. Cumulative awards based on all 5 contests are awarded nationally
by MOEMS after the last contest of the year. It is therefore
critical that participating team members attend as many of
the 5 contests as possible in order to maximize their chance
of an award.
MOEMS is administered at two levels: Elementary Division (grades 4-6) and Middle School Division (grades 7-8)
